Welcome

...to Njaal's Homepage!
So, you really did get lost on the 'net.  I never bothered to get a counter on this page in fear of the numbers...

My son, Ludvig August

About me:

I was born happily in Bergen (Norway), june 1976.  As a child I moved around quite a bit with my parents, but most of my life has been spent in the city of Tromsø. I am currently studying computer science at the University of Tromso placed quite on top of the world. I have a few projects and plans about "stuff I would like to see implemented", but there is no hurry.  I normally look like an idiot in pictures, so I don't look quite as repulsive in real life.
I have also taken some pictures, and you can have a closer look at them here

Apart from beeing a complete computer geek, I enjoy riding my motorbike and generally slob around with a full cup of coffee...

Stuff you can do here:

Well, not really that much interactive stuff here at the moment, and it propably won't be ever...  You can send me a mail at Njaal_AT_Njaal_dot_Net (write this as a proper address...).

Files you can find here:

After setting up a small local area network, I was surprised to find not-quite-working support for streaming of mp3 files.  I have made a small hack for amp that you will be able to find here in a while...  Meanwhile, I have a version here that at least seems to work on linux glibc and libc5 systems.  Just download, run configure and make, and it might work... Oh, and I don't garantee that this thing is very stable...  :)

Stuff you can find here:

Some time ago I went to Italy for a year as an exchange student.  Unfortunately I don't have any good pictures from that time, but I have put some here anyway.
Summer of '98 me and a friend of mine went on a MC vacation in Northern Norway.  You can see what that was like at " Vacation '98 ", or perhaps take a closer look on some pictures of my bike here .
During a lecture of some quite uninteresting maths, I could suddenly see it quite clearly: The Secret Pascalcode of Windows (tm) '95 .
At the university we quite often sit in front of PC's.  The lab is in the cellar, with no windows and an enormous starway to get out.  The university has designed a weather-service, that enables us lazy students to check if it really is worth going outside at all.  Before we check the weather, we have to check if we have a reason to leave, i.e. check whats on the local cinemas.
Some people say that I have no friends.  I just pretend not to.  You can find a list of some of my very many, very good, very funny and very intelligent friends. If you follow the links , please do NOT let them know you got there from this page...  :)
As a total, total geek, I, of course, love the Palm Pilot from 3com.  Lectures will never be the same once you have played two player Tetris via the infared link with another bored student...
Living in the far north of the world is sometime quite excelent.  Check out some hilights .
As a computer scientist student, I waste all my money on technical equipment. Here is a small page about my hardware , and I of course feel like home in the splendid cartoon User Friendly .  News for our kind can be found at Slashdot , "news for nerds, stuff that matters".
For you people that want to check my timetable, you can find it rigth here .
